Kalamazoo man arrested after hiding heroin in buttocks

Many people will go to great lengths to avoid being caught by the police. One Kalamazoo man did just that when police spotted a driver selling drugs from his vehicle. After police searched him and his three passengers, they found heroin hidden inside the buttocks of one of the passengers.

Citizens complained to police about drug dealing in the area. Police acted on these tips and saw the man selling heroin on Nov. 8. The 30-year-old driver was arrested for drug delivery. The three passengers were also arrested, including a 27-year-old man who had hidden several grams of heroin between his buttocks. He was charged with heroin possession with intent to deliver. He also had an outstanding warrant against him.

The other two passengers, ages 18 and 30, were arrested for outstanding warrants. The driver and passengers were all booked in the Kalamazoo County Jail.

In a second investigation, police arrested a man who was wanted on outstanding warrants. The man took off when police approached, but the police caught up with him and took him into custody. The man had a loaded revolver in his possession. The man was charged with firearm possession.

State and federal laws make it illegal to possess, sell or manufacture illegal drugs such as heroin, cocaine and prescription drugs. Possession charges are usually not too serious, although charges of drug selling and delivery are harsher. Drug manufacturing carries the strictest charges. These charges vary based on the type of drug and how much was manufactured.
