1 man dies in Detroit shooting that was triggered by assault

A shooting that occurred in Michigan on July 14 left at least one 56-year-old man dead. According to the report, the incident occurred in Detroit following an alleged assault.

Police stated that a 35-year-old man was in the process of being assaulted by an unknown individual when he was able to escape to his home. He then reportedly came back outside carrying a long-barreled firearm. He allegedly then began to shoot, hitting a passerby. The 56-year-old man died at the scene. The accused assailant of the shooter was said to have fled the scene of the assault well before the man retrieved the gun from his home.

It was not known if the shooter was charged for the pedestrian’s death or the possession and discharge of a firearm. It was stated, however, that authorities were searching for the unknown assailant believed to be responsible for inciting the incident. During the incident, he was reportedly wearing jeans and a white t-shirt that might have had blood on it.

If the man who was allegedly involved in the original assault is ever identified, there is a chance that the authorities may file charges against him. Depending upon the severity of the charge and whether or not he has had prior convictions, potential punishments could include a prison sentence and a lengthy probation period. However, an attorney may be able to provide a strong defense against the charges. An attorney may also be able to work out a plea bargain that reduces the severity of the potential consequences.
