Michigan teacher taken into custody for alleged sex crimes

A Michigan teacher has been taken into custody and brought up on several charges of criminal sexual conduct. According to authorities, the 26-year-old high school teacher sexually assaulted a student when she engaged in sexual relations with the student. A parent allegedly brought the matter to the schools attention, which, after a meeting with the accused, later placed her on administrative leave. The teacher eventually resigned. She now faces two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct as well as two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The penalties this teacher may face if convicted could be harsh. She might wind up being dealt a prison sentence that would strip her of her freedom for years. Additionally, these allegations could cause significant damage to her reputation. A conviction may disallow her from ever teaching again, and it may be difficult for her to carry on a normal life if she is found guilty of these sex crimes.

Sex offenses are aggressively in Michigan, regardless of the genders of the individuals involved. No leniency is given to women who are accused of having inappropriate and illegal sexual relations with another. Therefore, those who face such accusations should be sure to educate themselves about the charges they are up against and how the law in that area has evolved.

Many times, an experienced criminal defense attorney can be of assistance. He or she might be able to help assess an individual’s case, analyze how case and statutory law might apply, and advise as to which legal defense options might be beneficial. When an individual, like the teacher in this case, is up against so much, there should be an all-out offensive with regards to defense.
