Informed Decision-Making for

frequently asked questions

  • How do I benefit from hiring a defense attorney?
You are at a significant disadvantage trying to defend yourself against the government, its extensive resources, and experienced prosecutors. By retaining a lawyer, you close this gap and have a qualified professional to advocate on your behalf.
  • What are the steps in the criminal process?
The initial steps are an arrest and arraignment, a court appearance where you enter a plea and arrange for pretrial release on bond. The parties attend court for appearances, motions, and other hearings, and the case is eventually scheduled for trial.
  • What should I expect if convicted on criminal charges?
Both felony and misdemeanor convictions carry harsh penalties, including jail time and fines. The case will also remain part of your permanent criminal record and turn up in a background check, so there can be implications after you serve your sentence.
  • Can I take advantage of defenses?
There are multiple strategies to fight criminal charges, especially when you expose weaknesses in the government’s case and attack its evidence. Other defenses include lack of intent, mistake of fact, self-defense, and unlawful search and seizure.
  • Are there other options in criminal cases?
When a complete defense is not suitable, your attorney will review alternatives such as plea bargaining. In exchange for pleading guilty, you can reduce the charges, your punishment, or both. You may even qualify for programs that drop the charges if you complete terms set by the court.
  • What is your experience representing those accused of crimes?
Our team has years of combined experience fighting for clients. Having spent years as a prosecutor, our founding attorney brings unique knowledge and skills to criminal defense that benefits you.
